Al and Dean Granger of Granger Chevrolet have donated a new high-efficiency electric vehicle charging station to Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.
“With Chevrolet having the Volt as one of the first electric cars … we just felt like it was a good fit (to donate the station) to Shangri La here in Orange as green as they are,” said Dean Granger, co-owner of Granger Chevrolet. “They were recognized as one of the 10 greenest properties in the nation a couple of years ago.”
Granger said Shangri La has had 110-volt charging available since 2008, but the new high-efficiency station is more up to date and will offer a faster charge and accommodate newer electric vehicles made after 2012 that have the same unit configuration.
Lewandowski said Shangri La is extremely grateful to Granger for the donation.
There will be a demonstration on how to use the new charging station as well as several hybrid or electric vehicles on display at Shangri La’s Eco-Fest on Saturday, April 19. Hours for the festival are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (670) 9113
