Police are searching for a man who robbed a Beaumont game room and assaulted an employee early Saturday morning, July 19.
Around 1 a.m., Beaumont Police patrol officers responded to a reported robbery-in-progress at a game room located in the 4300 block of S. 4th Street.
The suspect fled just prior to the officers’ arrival. Responding officers set up a perimeter and attempted a track the suspect using a K-9 unit but were unable to locate the suspect.
Witnesses told officers that the suspect entered the business through the front door, assaulted an employee by hitting him with a gun, then escorted an employee to the back room, a BPD press release states. Once in the back room, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and some personal items. He then fled the area on foot. The employee who was assaulted suffered minor injuries. The game room had several patrons inside at the time of the robbery but none of them were injured.
Witnesses, although police say they were uncooperative with providing much information, did describe the suspect as a black male, in his 30’s, with a medium build, and a scarf covering his face.
