The City of Orange Fire Department responded to a report of a bedroom on fire at 604 Morrell in the Navy Park addition Wednesday, Sept. 14, around 10:20 p.m.
According to city deputy fire chief Jerry Ziller, officers from the Orange Police Department first arrived on the scene and reported the house had flames coming from the front door. The first arriving fire units determined that the five occupants of the residence were safely out of the house, and crews quickly attacked the fire to bring it under control within 20 minutes.
Ziller reported that, “None of the occupants, including the family dog, were injured. Fire crews remained on the scene until after midnight providing victim assistance and ensuring no fire remained inside the home. The occupants were assisted by our American Red Cross. The City of Pinehurst Fire Department assisted by providing a stand-by crew during the fire.”
