Ladies who lunch … Last week the Junior League of Beaumont hosted its Holiday Luncheon that honored the oh-so-deserving Michele Smith. The luncheon was a smashing success with all tables filled to capacity and almost 250 well-heeled women and a few dapper gents in attendance. Alison Kiker (the honoree’s sis) and Jennifer Smith showered her with touching tributes and accolades before the honoree spoke. Never one to mince words, the admirable Mrs. Smith thanked the lunch bunch in a way that only this terrific lady can do and asked everyone to continue their quest in doing what they can for others. The group was on its feet when she completed her speech. During the divine meal, holiday attire from Bella Bella was modeled by Melissa Edwards, Carolyn Sweat, Johnnie Broussard, Kit Ohmstede and Mary Jane Benning, to name a few. Enjoying the tasty meal were Camille Ohmstede, Dana Babineaux, Mildred Hall, Brenda White, Norma Sampson, Barbara Quinn, Judy Dishman, Jennifer Parker, Heather Petkovsek, Elizabeth Waddill, Lisa Cowart, Gail Colletti, Debbie Sebastion, Paige Windham, Dana Babineaux, Annie Green, Paige Fertitta, Gillian Maness, Stephanie Daleo, Nicole Saba, Nikki Albanese and too many more to mention. Hats off to Ashley Carter, Susan Reese and all of the Junior League members who put together a wonderful Main Street Market weekend that benefits our community in so many different ways!
Havana night … Last Thursday evening, several Beaumont art aficionados made the trek to Museum of Fine Arts, Houston to enjoy the lecture on “The Great Houses of Havana: A Century of Cuban Style” by artistic author Hermes Mallea. Several in the crowd had recently returned from touring the Caribbean island and could relate the interesting facts and pictures depicting this beautiful country and its colorful history. On the edge of their chairs were Betty Leaf, Regina Winegar, Elsie Yeates, Carey Maloney, Martha and Leon Hicks, Cathy and David Bissell, Mary Clark, Kelly and Jack McNeill, and Sharon and John Bissell. This is a magnificent must-have coffee table tome that you can order online at greathousesofhavana.com.
