New Year’s Eve celebrations began popping up around the United States around 1900. Our country observes the Gregorian calendar, which means December 31 is the end of the calendar year. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas will host the Los Angeles portion of the program. NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly will host a two-hour special from 9-10 p.m. and 10:30-11:30 p.m. Performing are Drake, Jessie J and Tony Bennett.
