Ya, cher … Anayat House will be serving up gumbo galore, Zydeco tunes, games and garage sale finds at Lagniappe Fest on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A fitting moniker, lagniappe is a Cajun term that connotes a little something extra or unexpected, which is exactly what you will get at this not-so-ordinary-fundraiser. The Cajun-themed event will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall and the cost of gumbo is $7 per serving, which includes access to Zydeco music and a dance floor if you feel inclined to try out your best Cajun steps. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 951 and HEB, all Lagniappe Fest proceeds benefit Anayat House, the nonprofit medical hospitality house of Southeast Texas. With only two fundraisers a year, Anayat House has high hopes for this fais do do. The whole community is invited to attend this family-friendly and food-centric happening.
