An Enchanted Evening … Lamar University’s Friends of the Arts hosted the 2012 Le Grand Bal supporting the College of Fine Arts and Communication with Sandra Clark and Nell McCallum Morris co-chairing this fantastic and successful soiree March 24. Kudos to atmosphere chairs Melissa Edwards and Lynda Moncla for transforming the Montagne Center with a tropical theme they called “Some Enchanted Evening,” named for a favorite song of honorees Becky and Chuck Mason from the musical “South Pacific.” The Dishman Art Museum housed the fantastic art created by LU students as guests bid on the clever pieces while quaffing cocktails and visiting with their fellow guests. The music of Eclipse and The Night and Day Orchestra kept the polished group on the dance floor after enjoying the bountiful buffet planned by Iris Nathan,Allison Getz and the Chartwell staff. Rising star … Kalon McMahon of Houston, who is descendant of the Rogers family perhaps best known for Texas State Optical, will be one of the bachelors on the latest edition of the reality television show “The Bachelorette” airing May 15. Proud family members mom Merrick Stern and grand-mère Joelle Rogers are excited for this future star. After graduating from SMU, this talented young man returned to Houston where he has graced the pages of many slick mags as a model for Neal Hamill Modeling Agency and a public relations whiz for several of Houston’s hot night spots. Storkmarketing … Grandparents Dottie and Gene Schulz and Julie and Jay Hise as well as aunt Ellen Schulz are elated over the arrival of William Hayes Hise, the newest addition to the family of precious parents Meredith and Cullen Hise this past Friday. Big sister Avery is still deciding whether she is ready to share the limelight with her new baby brother. Congrats!
