With the second annual Exygon and Baptist Hospitals Gusher Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K Run taking place Saturday, March 12, access to streets in the area of the marathon may be limited.
The downtown exit will be closed from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a number of streets will also be blocked off to allow for runners to safely participate. Martin Luther King will be blocked off between Jim Gilligan Way/Floriday Avenue to College Street. Access to downtown will be difficult and may require patrons to the downtown area to park and walk a few blocks to their destination.
Roadways will be blocked off beginning around 6:30 a.m. and officers use caution when traveling in the downtown area and around Lamar University.
The marathon will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Montagne Center of Lamar University, which is also the same location it finishes around 1 p.m.
