The 100 Club of Southeast Texas honored slain Beaumont Police Department Officer Bryan Hebert with a bronze Memorial Plaque on Wednesday, May 30, during an unveiling event that took place in the front lobby of the police department. Dozens of revelers packed the small room, representing Hebert’s friends, family and BPD colleagues, as well as the 100 Club.
The bronze plaque of Officer Hebert joined the plaques of other Beaumont Police Officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community. 100 Club of Southeast Texas President Jon Reaud joined BPD Chief James Singletary during the unveiling, taking the time to not only honor Hebert’s sacrifice, but to also celebrate his life of service and the lives of service also lived by the other officers whose plaques now decorate the BPD walls.
Reaud, borrowing from words that have served as inspiration to him in past, summed up the event with just one sentence: “It is not how they died that made them heroes; it was how they lived.”
