Thursday, Aug. 23, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls of Beaumont will host its first annual Hope For Tomorrow Luncheon and Style Show at the Garden Center at Beaumont Botanical Gardens in Tyrrell Park. The community is invited to this event for an afternoon of food, fashion, fellowship and fundraising.
“The theme ‘LEARN from yesterday, LIVE for today and HOPE for tomorrow’ will bring together lessons learned from the past, setting goals for today and reaching out with great hope for a brighter tomorrow for all our youth,” said Judy Kelfstrom, event coordinator and The Salvation Army regional resource development coordinator.
Macy’s is providing fashions for guest models, BISD students and members of the Boys & Girls Club. Each student selected to model was nominated by a teacher for academic achievement and community service during the 2011-12 school year. As an added benefit, several local celebrities have been asked to model as well.
This event will help raise funds as well as foster awareness for a much needed expansion of the Boys & Girls Club building located at 2350 Interstate 10 E.
The continual increase in requests from parents for positive, well known youth programs and services, including education, nutrition, the arts and athletics, warrants a need to expand existing facilities by an additional 10,600 square feet of space, complete with a teen center, multipurpose center big enough to serve as a game room and dining area, art/music and learning center classrooms, a large computer lab, library and a full-service kitchen. This proposed addition will dramatically enhance efforts to provide the very best after-school and summer programs available for the youth of Beaumont.
The Hope for Tomorrow luncheon kicks off at 10:45 a.m., when guests will be invited to shop gently used merchandise and new items in the silent auction. The luncheon and style show is from ll:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Reserved seats are $50. For more information contact, judy_kelfstrom [at] uss [dot] salvationarmy [dot] org.
