
UPDATE: On Friday after the Jefferson County Sheriff's office released a report of the arrest of Timothy R. Verdon the Sheriff's office stated they would have a press conference on Monday the 28th of March at a time to be announced Monday.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested an 8th grade history teacher from Hamshire-Fannett Middle School late Friday afternoon March 25 on charges including sexual assault of a child.
Timothy Russell Verdon, 50, of Port Neches, was arrested at the home he shares with his wife in Port Neches.
Verdon is charged with Sexual Assault of a Child and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.
Both crimes are 2nd Degree Felonies. If convicted, he could face punishment ranging from probation to 2-20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine on each charge.
Information provided by sources claim the abuse began when the unnamed student was in 8th grade and has been ongoing. The victim is now a junior at Hamshire Fannett High School.
The Sheriff's Office says the arrest is part of a continuing investigation.
Bond for Verdon on the Sexual Assault of a Child charge is set at $25,000.00. Bond on the Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student is set at an additional $25,000.00
Jefferson County Sheriff Mitch Woods has scheduled a news conference on Monday, March 28.
