Garth House is holding its 27th annual “Pour Les Enfants” fundraiser Nov. 15 to raise child abuse awareness. The event’s theme is “The Edge of the Woodlands” and is inspired by the poem by Cicely Mary Barker “Song of the Bugle Fairy.”
“The sentinel (in the poem) is like the Garth House’s guard watching over these abused children,” said Marion Tanner, executive director of the Garth House.
The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be live and silent auctions with a meal prepared by the Texas Chef’s Association included with ticket purchase. Tickets are $100 per person.
A raffle drawing will also take place with a chance to win a 2013 red Mustang convertible, Tanner said.
“Sponsors paid for the Mustang completely,” said LeAnn Garth, Pour Les Enfants chair of the Mustang subcommittee. “One hundred percent of every dollar goes to counseling for the kids.”
S&M Family Outlet in Beaumont will be holding a shopping day Nov. 9 in support of the event, as well, giving 10 percent of net sales that day to the Garth House. The shopping day will include a raffle drawing for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, 12 for $10, or 25 for $20.
According to the foundation’s Web site, “Garth’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect and to lessen the trauma to child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse during the investigative, prosecutorial and healing process. Garth House provides the child victim with a safe environment to tell their story.”
Garth House is at 1895 McFaddin in Beaumont. For more information or to purchase tickets for the event, contact Marion Tanner at (409) 838-9084 or visit www.garthhouse.org .
