The Arc of Greater Beaumont held its annual Thanksgiving Feast for Arc members Thursday, Nov. 15, at St. Giles Living Centers in Beaumont. Arc members gathered to see old friends and to enjoy delicious holiday fare. Attendees were asked to write down something for which they are thankful on paper turkeys at each place setting on the tables. Caitlin Kruger, office manager for Arc, said they like to have events each month for Arc members 16 and older. “We do something different every month,” Kruger said. “Thanksgiving is in November, so we wanted to have a feast. It lets them enjoy themselves and get together with friends and family. Many of them are living in group homes. They can come and have fun with their families and friends.” The Arc of Greater Beaumont is a nonprofit organization whose sole mission is to promote inclusion of children and adults with developmental disabilities in every community. Arc assists individuals with disabilities through a variety of services and teaching programs designed to improve their daily lives. The Thanksgiving festivities kicked off the holiday season, and Arc continues the celebration by preparing for Christmas. The organization is currently selling Christmas cards designed by Arc members for $10 for a box, including 10 cards with envelopes. Profits from the card sales fund The Arc of Greater Beaumont’s programs benefiting the special-needs community. Call (409) 838-9012 or visit www.arcofbmt.org for details.
