There’s been a whirlwind of changes since Mike Schultz arrived as the new head football coach earlier this year and a major point of emphasis under Schultz is that players get stronger by spending more time in the weight room. 

With that said, Schultz and the coaching staff hosted a first for the Lamar football team — Night of Champions — on April 25, which is a strength and conditioning showcase that saw several members of the team square off in bench press, squats and deadlift at Provost Umphrey Stadium in front of fans.

The Lamar Cardinals softball team (22-21) will host nationally ranked Baylor on Tuesday, April 25, for one non-conference game beginning at 4 p.m.

LSCPA Seahawks suspend 11 players

Lamar State College-Port Arthur is enforcing a two-game suspension of 11 of its softball players after an incident that involved members of the LSU-Eunice softball program.

LSCPA Director of Athletics Scott Street handed down the disciplinary action March 27 after an investigation into an incident that took place early Wednesday morning, March 22.
