Monsignor Kelly High School senior James Meshell and the Kelly soccer team celebrate Meshell's signing to play soccer for Roanoke College in Virginia. The Roanoke College Athletics program has accumulated 101 ODAC Championships since joining the Div. III ranks in 1980 with four national championships and currently supports 19 intercollegiate sports.

Plenty of teams from Southeast Texas are still playing in the second round of the playoffs as Bridge City (3A) with a record of 24-3-1 will play Sweeny (18-9) in a best-of-3 series beginning Friday, May, 9 at Baytown Sterling High School at 7:30 p.m. Games 2-3 will be played at the same field on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The UIL track and field state championships will be held this weekend on Friday, May 9 and concluding on Saturday, May 10 at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
