While duck hunting on a flooded field the other day, we were just about ready to pick up the decoys when we saw a string of snow geese low on the horizon and coming our way. The wind was honking, it was drizzling and those birds were on the deck. What looked like a sure fire deal, with easy shots at possibly the most hunter-wary birds on earth, quickly turned sour. Just about the time those geese were within shotgun range, they veered off with the wind.
While we harbor no disrespect for the Wall Street Journal who called us “that scrappy little paper from Southeast Texas,” we prefer to think of ourselves as simple seekers of the truth.
