12-year-old stabbed, hospitalized after argument

A Wednesday, Feb. 13, argument in the 5000 block of Pine Street almost turned deadly when one young girl stabbed another. 

According to a Beaumont Police Department press release, witnesses said the altercation had gone on throughout the day, culminating around 7:13 p.m. when the altercation between the two 12-year-old girls became physical. After being pushed to the ground, one girl grabbed a knife and stabbed the other in the stomach. 

Police later found the victim and her aggressor, sending the wounded girl immediately to St. Elizabeth ER by Beaumont EMS before booking her attacker at the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of aggravated assault. 

There was no further information on the girl's health, but the press release said the girl was conscious and talking with paramedics while being transported to St. Elizabeth.
