18-wheeler accident shuts down eastbound Interstate 10

UPDATE:

The Interstate near the Goodyear plant is now open from earlier 18-wheeler crash.The driver, 39-year-old Eugene Singleton of Alabama, was not injured in the accident.

 

At approximately 1:15 p.m., there was a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near the Goodyear plant in Jefferson county, DPS reports. The crash involved a single vehicle, a truck tractor semi-trailer.

According to a news release from DPS, the truck tractor semi-trailer was eastbound on Interstate 10 near the Goodyear plant when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The driver was reportedly not paying attention to traffic that was slowing in the area and had to maneuver the vehicle into the median to avoid striking any other vehicles. The 18-wheeler struck the center cable barriers, disabling it partially in the roadway.

At this 1:57 p.m., both eastbound lanes of the Interstate were closed and traffic routed to the improved shoulder. All information is preliminary, and more detailed information will be released as it becomes available, reports DPS.
