18th annual FSC food show for local school nutrition is Feb. 20

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 2 to 6 p.m., the Beaumont Civic Center will be filled with the smell of good food and the sound of vendors describing a wide assortment of products designed especially for school cafeterias.

Over 1,000 students, school administrators and campus food service staff will slowly walk from booth to booth, sampling and casting their votes for favorites in the 18th Annual Food Show and Tasting. The Region 5 ESC Food Service Cooperative’s event, "Hitting Another Home Run with School Nutrition," will give students an opportunity to provide input in the selection of offerings that will appear on next year’s cafeteria menus. This event is the largest of its kind in the state, showcasing food and beverage items for the many districts that participate in the cooperative. The co-op represents 50 area school districts, charter schools, churches and childcare centers. The event provides vendors with important and direct feedback from their customers as they strive to meet the latest federal and state nutrition requirements. Don’t miss this fascinating and important process! We hope to see you!
