The woman was driving northbound in I-10 when she came to a stop at the top of the College Street overpass. Her vehicle was struck from behind by a Dodge pickup going at full speed and she was thrown from the vehicle over the median and into oncoming traffic.

Her name is being held pending notification of kin. The driver of the pickup was transported to St. Elizabeth's for non-life threatening injuries. Police are still gathering information from witnesses as to the blue vehicle.
