Accident in Vidor leaves one injured

The fire department had to extract the driver.

A man was transported to the emergency room after a one-car accident on the Interstate 10 access road in Vidor on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Vidor Police officer Ray Ruggles was on the scene of the accident at the onramp across from Claiborne Street. He said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on the feeder road, and the driver decided at the last minute he wanted to take the onramp to Interstate 10. Ruggles said the man misjudged the maneuver and collided with the guardrail, causing the truck to flip. He said the driver looked to have sustained only minor injuries.

“He was very lucky,” Ruggles said.

The fire department was also at the scene of the accident and had to extract the driver from the truck due to the extensive damage.
