Aggravated kidnapping in Port Arthur

Port Arthur Police are investigating a report of an aggravated kidnapping that happened at about 3 a.m. on April 28 at the Fuel Depot Convenience Store on West Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur.

According to a news release from PAPD, a male victim told police he was approached by a man asking for a ride from the store. The victim agreed, but told officers that when the man got into the car he produced a handgun, demanding to be driven to Beaumont. The victim reportedly complied and drove the man to a location near Washington Boulevard in Beaumont. Once at the location, the victim was able to escape and call police. The suspect fled the area before police could arrive. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Police are still investigating.
