Aggravated robbery in Port Arthur

Port Arthur police are investigating an aggravated robbery that took place in the early morning hours of Sept. 6. Police received a call from the Southeast Texas Medical Center than a 36-year-old Port Arthur resident was at the facility seeking medical help for a gunshot wound to his back left shoulder. 

According to a news release from PAPD, the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and his girlfriend were at the park at 200 Amy St. in the Montrose Addition in Port Arthur. An unknown male approached the couple, and there was an "interaction," police reported. An altercation ensued, and the unknown male suspect fired shots at the victim, striking him in the shoulder. According to police, what started the altercation is unclear but said it appeared to be a robbery or attempted robbery and is being investigated as an aggravated robbery. Investigators are looking into the incident.
