Armed robbery suspects arrested

Shavonskie Ardion and Douglas Martin

Earlier the morning of June 14, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies were in pursuit of two armed robbery suspects that had just robbed and shot up a convenience store in Batson Texas, and were headed into Jefferson County.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit, which ended on Clinton Road in Cheek, just outside of Beaumont.

A perimeter was set up and a Beaumont Police K9 was called out to assist in the search along with the sheriff’s helicopter and additional deputies from the Patrol Division, Warrant Division and Criminal Investigation Division.

A 17-year-old female was found in the vehicle that fled from deputies; she was arrested and taken back to Hardin County for questioning.

After a number of hours, the search was called off, but deputies remained in the area on the lookout for the suspects.

Sheriff’s deputies received a tip later that afternoon that led to the arrest of the other two suspects, who were taken into custody without incident, Shavonskie Ardion and Douglas Martin. Both are from Beaumont.

The suspects were then taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. After talking with Ardion and Martin, it was discovered the two were also responsible for the armed robbery of the Exxpress Mart at Reins and Highway 105 in Jefferson County, as well as other robberies in the area.

The two suspects were taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where they were booked in on aggravated robbery and evading detention with additional charges pending from Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and Beaumont Police Department.

Ardion and Martin were both charged with aggravated robbery ($750,000 bond) for the robbery of the Exxpress Mart at Highway 105 at Reins in Jefferson County. Ardoin was also charged with a probation violation (no bond), and Martin was charged with Class B theft ($500 bond).
