Arrest made in Port Arthur manslaughter
A car wreck on Feb. 23 in Port Arthur left a Groves woman dead and led to the arrest of a Port Arthur resident, police report.
According to a news release from the Port Arthur Police Department, 38-year-old Maria Guadalupe Gonzales was killed as the result of a wreck in the 3900 block of Memorial Boulevard. Officers arrested 27-year-old Leroy Rideaux Jr. after they say they "developed probable cause to believe he was intoxicated at the time of the wreck." Rideaux, who previously served time in prison for robbery according to a database search, was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked for intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
On Feb. 26, charges were filed against Rideaux for intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault for his part in the wreck, which killed Gonzales and injured a passenger. Bond was set at $500,000 for each charge totaling $1 million.
