Assault ends in stabbing in Port Arthur
Port Arthur Police say an alleged assault that occurred Monday, Jan. 20 in Port Arthur resulted in a stabbing when the victim turned a knife against his aggressor.
According to a Port Arthur Police Department press release, a 20-year-old Nederland man attempting to enter the code at the security gate of the 9th Avenue Station Apartments, located at 7225 Ninth Ave., around 7:15 p.m., was stopped by several people, one being a 26-year-old Nederland man who began assaulting the 20-year-old by punching him.
The victim of the assault fled to the convenience store located at the corner of Ninth Avenue and Jimmy Johnson Boulevard where he requested that 911 be called, the press release states. The aggressor in the incident allegedly followed the victim and began assaulting him again, but this time, the victim retrieved a knife and began defending himself by stabbing the attacker.
The attacker was treated for minor stab wounds at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas and was released.
The attack is being investigated as a misdemeanor assault.
Police said the names of the persons involved are not being released at this time.
