Austin Middle School aide terminated following arrest
Dawn Williams, an aide at Austin Middle School, was fired on Thursday, May 3, after she was arrested by the Beaumont Independent School District Police Department following her confession to showing pornographic images on her phone to students, said Craig Eichhorn, communications specialist for the district.
Eichhorn indicated Williams had shown the images approximately three weeks ago to students she was working with, and one of those students reported it to a school counselor Thursday. Williams was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Thursday on a charge of showing harmful material to a minor. She was given a $250 bond, which she later bonded out. According to a source, after confessing to showing the images, BISD police confiscated the phone, which still had the image in question, a picture of Williams' boyfriend, who was lying naked on a bed.
While the charge is a misdemeanor, Williams faces a possible year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
