Beaumont Bridge Studio presents check to Beaumont Rainbow Room

Beaumont Bridge Studio members Carolyn Worsham, Phyllis Mann and Linda Briggs presented a check for $498 to the Beaumont Rainbow Room, an in-house emergency supply center located within the Jefferson County Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) offices. Karen Soares, Rainbow Room buyer, and Katherine Read, Rainbow Room chairman, accepted the check.

Each year the Beaumont Bridge Studio selects a local charity as the recipient of the proceeds from its Charity Games. Last year the funds supported the Catholic Charities Hospitality Center in Port Arthur; this year the funds will support the Beaumont Rainbow Room. A second check will be sent in the fall.

Rainbow Rooms across Texas stock new items such as infant and toddler clothing, diapers and wipes, formula, baby food, stuffed animals, books, car seats, blankets, pack-n-plays and cleaning supplies to meet the basic needs of families in crisis. The items are picked up and distributed by DFPS caseworkers. Laura Bush dedicated Beaumont’s Rainbow Room in January 1997.

The Beaumont Bridge Studio, located at 950 North St. in Beaumont, is affiliated with the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). The local club offers duplicate bridge games six days a week. Contact Carolyn Worsham at (409) 728-9493 for more information.
