Beaumont Fire Rescue saves residents trapped by apartment complex fire

 Structure fire at 1095 Alabama

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2015, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire at the Alabama Garden Apartments, located at 1095 Alabama.

According to Captain Brad Penisson, when firefighters arrived they found flames coming from one downstairs apartment at one end of the building and several occupants trapped on the second floor landing at the other end. Several firefighters immediately began rescuing the trapped occupants while others fought the fire at the opposite end of the building. Occupants of eight apartments were evacuated without injury.

The blaze appears to have originated from a stove fire. Fire damaged two apartments, while smoke and water damaged several others. Red Cross was called to assist the displaced occupants.

There were no injuries to any firefighters.
