Beaumont gearing up for Summer Food Program
The city's Parks & Recreation Department will again hold its Summer Food Program for kids age 18 and younger. The program begins June 6 and runs through Aug. 12. There will be no service on Monday, July 4.The program is a joint effort with the Texas State Department of Agriculture, and cost of the meals is covered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Groups should call 409-838-1902 at least one day prior to coming, to ensure that there are enough meals. Please note, the L.L. Melton Family Resource Center will not be a serving location.Books & Bites ProgramThe Beaumont Public Library System will provide books through the Books & Bites Program in conjunction with the Summer Food Program. The Library System will give away free books to children attending the food program on Tuesdays throughout the summer. Books will be given away once at each site on the program schedule.
