Beaumont gearing up for Summer Food Program

The city's Parks & Recreation Department will again hold its Summer Food Program for kids age 18 and younger. The program begins June 6 and runs through Aug. 12. There will be no service on Monday, July 4.The program is a joint effort with the Texas State Department of Agriculture, and cost of the meals is covered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Groups should call 409-838-1902 at least one day prior to coming, to ensure that there are enough meals. Please note, the L.L. Melton Family Resource Center will not be a serving location.Books & Bites ProgramThe Beaumont Public Library System will provide books through the Books & Bites Program in conjunction with the Summer Food Program. The Library System will give away free books to children attending the food program on Tuesdays throughout the summer.
