Beaumont man charged in murder of estranged wife
Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at 6:48 p.m. officers responded to a report of a shooting victim in front of a residence in the 2500 block of N. 10th St. in Beaumont. Witnesses stated that the shooter left walking eastbound on Hoover Street toward N. Ninth Street.
BPD officers located the suspect in the 2700 Block of N. Ninth Street, and he was taken into custody without incident, the Beaumont Police Department said in a press release. He was identified as Ray Anthony Grant, 35, of Beaumont, the victim's estranged husband.
The victim was located in the front yard of a residence in the 2500 block of N. 10th Street, and EMS advised that she was deceased. She was identified as Natasha M. Duggins, 25, of Beaumont.
Grant was transported to the station to speak with detectives and then transported to Jefferson County Jail and booked on murder and city warrants.
According to witnesses, Duggins was at a birthday party in the back yard of the residence. Grant asked Duggins to come outside to speak with him and shot her. Family Violence detectives are handling the investigation.
