Beaumont man drowns near Keith Lake Bridge

A Beaumont man drowned Saturday morning, July 19, after falling into the water near Keith Lake Bridge in Port Arthur.

Port Arthur Police responded to 3700 S. Gulfway Drive about 7 a.m. to learn 22-year-old Tychicus Sims was walking along a concrete walkway and fell into the waterway, a PAPD press release states. Sims attempted to swim to the shoreline but was overcome by the strong current and disappeared under the water.

Port Arthur Fire Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife responded and attempted to locate the subject.

Sims' body was recovered approximately two hours later. Justice of the Peace Gillham pronounced him dead.
