Beaumont man nabbed stealing metal
On Thursday morning, March 29, Beaumont Police responded to 5250 College, Commercial Metal, in reference to a theft in progress in which an employee reported that a man was taking metal and placing it through a hole in the fence. Officers from 1st and 4th watch quickly responded to the location and set up a perimeter around the property. The suspect ran from officers but was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Lee Collins, a 51-year-old Beaumont man. He was transported to Jefferson County Correctional Facility and charged with criminal trespassing, theft and evading arrest. He also had a warrant for burglary of a habitation.
