Beaumont police arrest burglar hiding in attic

May 30 at about 11:40 a.m., Beaumont police responded to a residence in the 4400 block of Ector Avenue in reference to a burglary in progress, in which the caller stated the suspect had a gun, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.

As officers arrived, the suspect attempted to exit the house but retreated back inside. Additional police units established a perimeter around the residence. Several attempts to contact the suspect inside were made; however, they were unsuccessful.

 

Entry was made into the house, and the suspect, 21-year-old Rain Lee Johnson Jr. of Beaumont, was discovered hiding in the attic. Johnson was transported and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
