Beaumont Police Department reorganizing Animal Services program

The Beaumont Police Department announced Tuesday, September 15 it will be reorganizing its Animal Services program.

The program will now have two separate divisions. Animal Control will be under the direction of Matthew Fortenberry, while the Adoption Center at 1884 Pine Street will be headed by new manager Susan Toney.

Toney is a certified animal shelter manager with over 30 years of management experience. The new hire is the first step in an initiative to improve the efficiency of the Animal Services operation. The more compassionate and comprehensive program hopes to better the lives of local citizens and animals alike. The intended goal is to greatly decrease euthanasia rates and increase the amount of animals adopted into loving homes.
