Beaumont police investigating aggravated assault family violence

At 1:34 p.m. on Oct. 12, officers responded to the 700 block of San Jacinto in reference to a female that called and said she had just been shot. Upon arrival, witnesses told officers the victim and suspect were still in the residence.

Officers were able to get the shooter in custody and make the scene safe enough for fire and EMS to care for the shooting victim. The victim is a 42-year-old Beaumont woman. She was transported to St.Elizabeth hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen area and taken in to surgery.

The suspect, the victim's brother-in-law, Demarcus Antwon Chatmon, 38, of Beaumont was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to Jefferson County Jail.
