Beaumont promotes two officers to Sergeant rank

The Beaumont Police Department (BPD) promoted two officers to the rank of sergeant during a ceremony Nov. 29. Officers Christopher Brinkmeyer and Aaron Pickering received promotions after years of service in law enforcement.

Brinkmeyer has been with BPD for eight years. He attended Lamar University and has advanced peace officer certification. Brinkmeyer also holds an instructor’s certification and often assists with instruction at the LIT Regional Police Academy, reports BPD. Brinkmeyer served in the Patrol Division as a field training officer and a patrol officer. He has also served in the Special Assignment Unit and most recently served in the Criminal Investigations Division working in Property Crimes.

Aaron Pickering has been with the department for seven years, BPD reports. While in the Patrol Division, Pickering served as a field training officer for five years. He is also a current member of the Beaumont SWAT Team and Honor Guard. Officer Pickering previously served four years in the U.S. Army and earned the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged.
