Benefit Friday, Sept. 14, for musician assaulted on Crockett Street

Local musician and band member of The Kingdom Mafia, James Phelps, 29, was assaulted Saturday on Crockett Street in Beaumont, police said. A friend of Phelps took him to his father’s house that night, according to Beaumont Police Department Officer Carol Riley.  Phelps was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth’s Hospital the following morning and has remained in ICU for treatment of his injuries.

Michael Molina, booking manager at Tequila Rok and Blue Iguana Patio at 260 Crockett St. in Beaumont, posted information on Facebook for a benefit at the bar to help the Phelps family cover the costs of James Phelps’ medical treatment.  No entrance fee is required.  Doors open at 9 Friday, Sept. 14, and the bands play around 10-10:30 p.m.
