Blood sample taken after crash on I-10

Two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 on Friday, May 2

DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis reported a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Friday, May 2, involved an SUV and a tractor trailer. Davis said the 18-wheeler was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in Vidor when the driver said he was struck from behind by a 2004 Chevrolet SUV. The driver of the 18-wheeler, 57-year-old Melvin Grimes, was not injured.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 52-year-old Rex Milstead, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with minor injuries.Trooper Davis said the investigating trooper suspects that alcohol played a part in this crash and obtained a blood specimen from Milstead.
