Body found in Beaumont drainage ditch identified


The body of a white male, later identified as 46-year-old Bobby Wayne Hodge, was found floating in the canal behind the Exxon Station at Washington and I-10 the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 29. 

A witness told the clerk at the gas station that there was a body floating in the canal,  a call was then placed and Beaumont Police and Fire responded to the scene. 

The body was removed from the water and it was noted that it appeared to have been in the water for an extended period of time. Detectives were then called to the scene.

Judge Nancy Beaulieu was also called to the scene and ordered an autopsy.

Hodge was a transient man with a previous Lumberton address. His death is still under investigation, but there is no sign of foul play.
