BPD, Animal Services to host Blue Santa event at shelter

For the sixth year in a row, Beaumont Animal Services and Petfinder.com are participating in the national “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays” pet fostering program. The event will run from December 7th through January 4th.

Across the country, over 13,000 pet rescue organizations are trying to empty their kennels for Christmas, encouraging members of the public to invite a pet home for the holidays.

According to Beaumont PD Sergeant James Guedry, to kick off the season, Beaumont Animal Services will be hosting a “Blue Santa” event at the animal shelter, located at 1884 Pine St. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from noon to 3 p.m. The public is invited to join this special holiday event and support Beaumont Animal Services. Patrons will be able to bring their pets and have their photos taken with our Blue Santa for a $5 donation, and have the opportunity to meet loveable, adoptable pets. For one day only, there will be a special adoption fee of $20, along with spay and neuter specials from local veterinarians. Light refreshments will be served.

Those interested in making this Christmas and New Year's a happy holiday for a pet in need, or who want more information, should contact Beaumont Animal Services at (409)838-3304.

Beaumont Animal Services has an average population of 60 adoptable dogs and 30 adoptable cats. They can be viewed online at www.petfinder.com and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/beaumontanimalservices. The goal for the “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays” program is to have each of these pets into a home by noon on December 23rd. Those interested can call and pick up an application. Animal Services also has extended hours, open to the public Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
