BPD honors fallen during observance of National Police Week

The Beaumont Police Department hosted the 2013 Southeast Texas Police Memorial Ceremony on Wednesday, May 15.  This annual ceremony takes place on the front steps of our police station, 255 College.

In hosting the ceremony, BPD joins law enforcement agencies across the nation in observance of National Police Week, which is May 12-18, 2013.  During the local ceremony, the department celebrated the lives and honored the sacrifices of their fallen brothers and sister in blue.  Since 1881, 17 Beaumont Police Officers have given their lives in service to our community.

James Ware of KBTV-Fox 4 was Master of Ceremonies, and also present was the Honorable Larry Gist, judge of the Jefferson County Drug Court, serving as guest speaker.  Musical presentations wereprovided by the Lamar University Cardinal Singers. Several family members of our fallen officers also attended, placing roses into the Memorial Wreath in remembrance of their loved ones.

The department expressed thanks to the 100 Club of Southeast Texas for its underwriting of the Memorial Program and Ed Keller for providing refreshments.
