"Brazen burglary" - police searching for ATM machine thief

ATM machine

Investigators with the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) are searching for the suspect or suspects involved in what Officer Tony Harding described as the “brazen burglary” of an ATM machine at a local convenience store in Beaumont’s north end Feb. 22.

In a news release, Officer Harding reported that at just before 4 a.m., BPD patrol officers responded to the 3700 block of East Lucas regarding a burglary in progress. They were told that a large, white, four-door truck intentionally backed into the store, and three black males entered through the hole made by the truck. A short time later, the three men emerged from the store, entered the truck, and drove away from the store with an ATM machine in tow. Officers were able to locate the truck, but the vehicle was abandoned behind a nearby vacant house and the stolen ATM machine was gone.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477). All calls are anonymous and information leading to arrest and conviction could result in the caller receiving a cash reward.
