Brush with Kindness

Brush with Kindness

Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Beaumont gathered at a local home for a philanthropic endeavor benefitting a family in need Friday, Dec. 4, in an all-day project aimed at easing a household problem far too many disabled persons face. Several volunteers rolled up their sleeves to build a wheelchair ramp and rails for a Habitat for Humanity family in Beaumont, just in time for the holidays.

“We had a family that needed a wheelchair ramp so that they could go in their backyard, and visit with their children and grandchildren, and have that freedom,” said Shannon Williamson, board member for Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County. “This is one of the projects we chose. It was pretty dear to our hearts.”

Rotary International’s theme for 2015 is “Be a Gift to the World,” and the local chapter’s one-day “Brush with Kindness” project was indeed a gift, and one that will keep on giving for a local family previously limited by physical challenges and a lack of resources.
