Car hits, kills bicyclist on Hwy 347

A bicyclist died in a collision with a car early Tuesday, Dec. 5, Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley said in a release.

Beaumont police officers responded to the scene of an accident near 6240 Hwy 347 at 4:36 a.m., according to the statement.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a beige Mercury Grand Marque changed lanes and did not see the cyclist, since there were no lights on the bike or reflective clothing. The cyclist was pronounced deceased on scene.

The cyclist was identified as Tam Trung Ngo, a 55 year old transient male.
