Car theft suspect crashes BMW in Beaumont

Beaumont police arrested one man for car theft and evasion after he allegedly rolled a stolen car into a canal in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 26.

On March, 25 at about 11:04 p.m., BPD officers took an auto theft report of a 2014 Black BMW 750LI that was taken from the 4400 block of Park. On March 26 at 12:24 a.m., dispatch relayed to officers that the stolen vehicle's GPS was showing the BMW around Amelia and College.  Officers responded and spotted it east on College near Lindbergh. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver continued south on 23rd and drove behind the businesses in the 4900 block of Washington. The driver jumped out before the vehicle rolled into the large drainage canal behind the Red Roof Inn.  Officers set up a perimeter and, after a brief search, found the suspect hiding.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Beaumont resident Charles Sinegal, was arrested and transported to Jefferson County Jail where he was booked in for Felony Theft and Evading Detention with a Motor Vehicle.
