China resident injured while repairing his vehicle

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reports a China resident was seriously injured when his disabled vehicle rolled over him as he attempted to repair it.

According to a news release from Davis, troopers responded to the incident on S. China Road near FM 365 in Jefferson County at approximately 10:30 a.m. They learned that a Ford Bronco broke down on S. China Road. In an attempt to repair the vehicle, the driver of the Ford got out of the truck and crawled underneath it. While he was underneath the vehicle, the truck rolled over him.The driver, 70-year-old Charles DeLeon Jr., of China, was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital. DeLeon was listed in stable but guarded condition at the time of release.Due to the circumstances, Davis stated, this incident is not considered a motor vehicle crash. It is under investigation, and all information is preliminary.
