Classes canceled following school fire at LCM

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville (LCM) High School campus has been closed to teachers and staff on Monday, March 19, following an electrical fire on the campus, reports the school district.

According to the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District (LCMCISD), a small fire on the exterior of the school broke out Sunday evening causing the closure. All other campuses in the district remain open, and high school students enrolled at Lamar State College-Orange (LSC-O) will still have class.

Updates for the high school campus will be announced as they become available.

Coaches and sponsors will notify their teams regarding practices.

"A special thank you is extended to fire departments from Mauriceville, Little Cypress, McLewis, South Newton County, and Lumberton for their quick response and handling of the situation," the district stated in a news release.
