Collision with 18-wheeler causes serious injuries

At approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015, there was a two vehicle crash on Stonewall Road near Highway 105 in Hardin County. The crash involved a truck tractor semi-trailer and a passenger vehicle.

This crash investigation is in its early stages; therefore, the information is limited. There was a collision between a 2012 International truck tractor semi-trailer and a 2006 Infinity passenger vehicle. The impact of the collision caused a diesel leak from the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Infinity is a 24-year-old female from Corpus Christi, Texas, and she was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler received only minor injuries, and was not transported to the hospital.

Due to the diesel spill, Highway 105 was immediately closed in both directions. The highway was closed for about 8 hours, but has since reopened.

Since all information is preliminary, further details will not be released until information is confirmed.
