Commemorate Veterans Day at the Ben J. Rogers Regional Visitors Center

Staff of the Ben J. Rogers Regional Visitors Center invites veterans, their families and the general public to join them and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 292 to commemorate Veterans Day and to celebrate the service men and women who keep America safe at their seventh annual Veterans Day Observance scheduled for Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., at 5055 Interstate 10 Access Road in Beaumont.

Vietnam Veterans Chapter 292 is hosting the event and will hold a raffle, the proceeds of which will benefit the chapter.

Doug Porter, with Military Memories, will exhibit a display of Vietnam era military service uniforms. Visitors Center Operations Manager LaRue Rougeau says she feels the exhibit will be educational and encourage creative dialogue.

"This is a wonderful addition to the event, and we are sure it will spur a lot of conversations," said Rougeau.

According to Rougeau, Sarah Wells with the Clifton Steamboat Museum will offer free admission to veterans and their families beginning at 1 p.m. the day of the event.

"We encourage everyone to visit this interesting museum on Fannett Road, and we appreciate (Wells) joining in on the Veteran’s Day events," Rougeau remarked.

The Visitors Center is located just east of Ford Park on the service road. Due to the Major Drive construction, motorists may want to consider taking Major Drive south to cross the interstate, or Fannett Road to Major and then the Interstate 10 service road to reach the center. Travelers may also follow Interstate 10 West to Smith Road then turn back to the Major Drive eastbound exit 845.

"We would like to invite all veterans and their families as well as the general public to this patriotic event," said Rougea.
